GREETINGS FROM THE MIDDLE TEAM
Just to say . .
Welcome back to 2015 at Parkland School.  It has been great to meet lots of you already.  As parents, children and teachers let’s continue to work together for the entire year.  It looks to be another exciting and busy year.  Thanks for seeing your child arrives at school on time.  School starts at 8:50am.  It is important for children to arrive at school at least 10mins early so they can unpack their bags and check their tools (black pen, sharp pencil and ruler) and are ready to start school.
Homework:
Your child will get homework this year. This should be no longer than half an hour a night and supports what is happening in the classroom. The homework will contain: reading, spelling and maths. The content and format of this will differ from class to class.

Your child should be bringing home a book every night if they are on the colour wheel. When they are off the colour wheel, they will be able to choose a book from the school library, home or city library to read. Please sign the reading log in your child’s homework book each night.

If your child is on the essential spelling lists, then they will work through the spelling lists. Please test your child’s knowledge of these. They will be found in your child’s homework books.

Mathletics:

We strongly recommend everyone that everyone in the middle team purchases mathletics for the year. This supports both in school and homework activities. This can be purchased from the office for $25 for the year.
Tools:
All children need to have 2 black pens, a pencil, a ruler, an eraser and a book bag at all times! These need to be named. These items will need to be purchased from the office or in town as they are not part of the stationary pack: a ruler, an eraser and a book bag.

HUB:
Please make sure you regularly check the HUB. The school calendar is on the HUB with any important dates that you will need to know. We also have digital copies of the school newsletter. This is helpful for those children that may “loose” their newsletters.

Each class has a BLOG, and these will be updated regularly with information about what is happening in your child’s class, and with work that the children are doing. These have an option of “following by email” on the side of each BLOG.
Water Bottles & Snack Break:
The children are encouraged to have water bottles,  these bottles must contain only water.  Please also ensure your child has sufficient food for the entire school day. Children need to remember to bring their snack break into the class before the bell rings.  Just a reminder it needs to be either fruit, vegies, plain popcorn, plain crackers or cheese.
Accountability:
Children are expected to continue to take responsibility for their
belongings and behaviour.  Encouraging growth and independence assists them in their learning.
Newspapers
If anyone has any newspapers they don’t need could you please bring them into your classroom teacher.
Library:
Room Two’s Library Day: Thursdays
Room Three’s Library Day: Thursday
Room Four’s Library Day: Tuesday
Room Eleven’s Library Day: Tuesday

Please do not hesitate to come in and see us, email or phone the school if you have any questions or concerns at any time.
We look forward to working with you and your children this year.
